The Secret Hill was a hill associated with the Deep Magic of the Emperor-beyond-the-Sea. On the Secret Hill are fire-stones, on which the Deep Magic is carved in letters as deep as a spear is long.
The location of the hill is unknown, but likely possibilities include somewhere in Aslan's Country and the Western Wilds, which also hide the Hill of the Garden of Youth.
Despite its secrecy, both Jadis and Aslan understood the hill's existence and meaning, though no other Narnian ever mentions the place.
Trivia[]
- The mention of The Secret Hill was different in the pre-1994 American editions The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, where "the roots of the World Ash Tree" takes the place of "the fire-stones of the Secret Hill".
- Some have speculated that the imagery of the Secret Hill is supposed to echo those of the fire-stones used in old druidic rites, thus evoking images of mysticism, sacrifice, and darkness.
