AppearanceEdit

Talking Squirrels, like most Talking Beasts of Narnia, were larger than their counterparts on Earth; the squirrel Pattertwig was described as being nearly the size of a Terrier dog.

There were both red and grey squirrels in Narnia.

DescriptionEdit

Narnian squirrels were quick climbers, lived in trees, and collected nuts for food. Most squirrels were "rather flighty," according to Nikabrik the dwarf. They were extremely talkative, and often annoyed other beasts, but there is no record of any bad squirrels in Narnia.

Among squirrels, it was considered very bad manners to watch someone going to his or her store of nuts, or to ask where they kept them.

Notable SquirrelsEdit

• A group of squirrels threw nuts at Andrew Ketterley, to feed him, while they were keeping him as a pet at the birth of Narnia.

• A squirrel family, who lived during the Age of Winter, ate a feast given to them by Father Christmas, along with two satyrs, a dwarf and a fox, until the White Witch arrived and turned them into stone.

• Pattertwig the squirrel was a messenger and a scout of Caspian X during the War of Deliverance.

• At the end of Narnia, the Head Squirrel of the Narnian squirrels (name unknown), was repeatedly summoned by the ape Shift, who demanded far more nuts than the Head Squirrel's company could spare.

Film Adaptations Edit

• In the 2005 film of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, squirrels were never mentioned, but in a scene when the Pevensies and the Beavers were running from the Secret Police, Lucy comes across some creatures, including a family of squirrels, which the witch had turned to stone.

• In the 2008 film of Prince Caspian, Pattertwig the squirrel made two brief appearances. He was at the Dancing Lawn, where he asked Caspian if it was possible that there might be peace between the Narnians and the Telmarines. He was also present at Aslan's How, when they were discussing attacking Miraz's Castle. 

• Squirrels were absent in the Telmarine Castle Night Raid, but they appeared in the Second Battle of Beruna, where they fought the Telmarine army.
