"Cruels and Hags and Incubuses, Wraiths, Horrors, Efreets, Sprites, Orknies, Wooses, and Ettins. In fact here were all those who were on the witch's side and whom the Wolf had summoned at her command."

Orknies were followers of the White Witch during the Age of Winter in Narnia.

They were present at Aslan's Sacrifice at the Stone Table, and fought in the White Witch's Army at the First Battle of Beruna.

It is most likely that they were extinct by the time the Pevensies left Narnia at the end of the Golden Age, or by the time the Telmarines arrived and began their rule.

No physical description is given of the Orknies, except that apparently they were so horrible to look at that they could not be described.

"...other creatures whom I won't describe because if I did the grown-ups would probably not let you read this book."

  • Orknies may have been based on Orknies from Celtic mythology. They may also have a connection with the creatures mentioned in Beowulf, or the Orcs from Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings.
