Stone Knife

From WikiNarnia, the Narnian Encyclopedia

(Redirected from Knife of Stone)

The Stone Knife was the knife that Jadis the White Witch used to kill Aslan on the Stone Table during the Narnian Revolution. She also used it at the Battle of Beruna.

[edit] History

Susan and Lucy, who witnessed the execution of Aslan, noticed it had a 'strange and evil shape'.

The Knife appeared again on Ramandu's Island during Lucy, Edmund, and Eustace's travels aboard the Dawn Treader. It was seen lying at the end of a long ceremonial table where three sleeping men were sitting, appearing as though they had been there for years. Ramandu's daughter explained to Edmund, Lucy, and Caspian that it was brought there after Aslan's resurrection, to be kept in honour for as long as the world existed. The three men, sailors and lords of Telmar, came to the island. During a quarrel between them whether to go further or not, one of the men picked up the Knife, meaning to stab his comrades. As it was not right for him to touch it, when his fingers closed upon the hilt, the three fell into an enchanted sleep. The only way to release them from this enchantment was for the crew of the Dawntreader to go to the world's end, leave at least one of their companions, and come back without that companion forever. Though there was much dispute as to who would be left behind, Reepicheep was the one who was chosen to be left.
