Joe Johnston's career in the film industry began over 40 years ago working closely with George Lucas on the original Star Wars trilogy as designer, art director and storyboard artist. Johnston's name is on the patent applications for over two dozen of the most iconic designs in cinematic history including the Millennium Falcon, X-wing, Yoda and Boba Fett, to name just a few. He continued with Lucas and Steven Spielberg on the record breaking Indiana Jones films, winning an Academy Award for his VFX sequence and design work on Raiders of the Lost Ark.

A break out opportunity came to fruition for Johnston in 1987 when he used a nine-minute USC student film to land his first directing job on Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, the first debut film to cross the $100,000,000 mark in its domestic release.

Johnston went on to The Rocketeer for Walt Disney, followed by the family hit Jumanji (Domestic Gross over $100,000,000 in 1995 at more than 2,500 theaters and more than $300,000,000 worldwide ), critically acclaimed October Sky (90% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes) and Jurassic Park III (worldwide gross over $368,780,800). His latest hit, Captain America: The First Avenger with Marvel Studios has grossed over $370,569,000 worldwide.

He is now attached to The Chronicles of Narnia - The Silver Chair. Special thanks to video maker Brian Carnell and for this collaboration.
