- "Two sights have seen," said Farsight. "One was Cair Paravel filled with dead Narnians and living Calormenes: and your subjects flying from the city — this way and that, into the woods. Cair Paravel was taken from the sea. Twenty great ships of Calormen put in there in the dark of the night before last night." No one could speak. "And the other sight, five leagues nearer than Cair Paravel, was Roonwit the Centaur lying dead with a Calormene arrow in his side."
- ―Farsight to Tirian[src]
The Cair Paravel Massacre was the immediate conflict that dismantled the royal court of the Kingdom of Narnia by means of the extermination of the entire Narnian army and aristorcracy by Calormene forces who came by sea on ships from Tashbaan. It took place during the Calormene Conquest in a single event in which all the nobles, servants, guests of the Narnian castle, and Roonwit's Army at Cair Paravel were slaughtered by the invading Calormene Army. The Narnian King Tirian was not in the castle at the time of the attack but was informed of the massacre by Farsight, leading to the Battle of Stable Hill, which was considered the Narnians' last stand.
