Cruickshanks was a Red dwarf who lived before and during the reign of King Caspian X. He likely fought with his fellow dwarves during the War of Deliverance in 2303.
In 2306, he joined the crew of the Dawn Treader on it's maiden voyage. He appeared to serve the ship as a blacksmith to the rest of the crew. He also appears to have been the only dwarf on the ship.
When Caspian, Lucy, Edmund and Eustace were captured by the slavers on Narrowhaven, apparently so was he, as he was seen in a shot where Eustace and Lucy were chained to the wall, at the time when some islanders (including Rhince's wife) were taken to be sacrificed to the Green Mist.

- Cruickshanks is a character invented for the 2010 Fox/Walden film, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
- He is portrayed by Chris Cruickshanks, who presumably named his own character after himself, since the dwarf was never given one.
- Chris Cruickshanks also stated that his character was meant to be a 1000 year old dwarf, though the authenticity of that claim is disputed.
