The crescent was the primary unit of currency in the Calormene Empire. It was used in the Lone Islands in the late twenty-third century as the unit of currency in the Narrowhaven slave market. It was subdivided into forty minims.
The crescent was worth about one third of the pound sterling in early 1950. This was worth approximately ₤25 in February 2010, which means that a Calormene minim was approximately equal to the February 2010 American dollar.
