The Battle of Stable Hill, also known as the Last Battle, was the final fight to occur in the Narnian World.
The Battle of Stable Hill took place during the Calormene Conquest after King Tirian was told by a messenger, Farsight, that his castle Cair Paravel had fallen into Calormene hands and all of Roonwit's Army and other Narnians in the castle at that time were massacred.
Tirian and his last loyal troops soon met a number of Calormene soldiers in battle at Stable Hill. The loyal Narnian Mice, Moles, and a Squirrel went to free the Narnian Horses. Tirian, Eustace, Jill, Poggin, Puzzle, Jewel, Farsight, fifteen dogs, a bear, and a boar fought against Rishda, fifteen Calormene soldiers, a Talking Bull of Narnia, Slinkey the Fox, a Narnian Wolf, and Wraggle the Satyr.
Rishda ordered his forces to attack. In this initial clash, Jill Pole shot at least one Calormene soldier, a Bull, and Wraggle the Satyr. Eustace Scrubb killed Slinkey the Fox. Tirian and Jewel each killed a Calormene soldier. On Tirian's side, three Dogs and a Bear were killed by the Calormenes, and a fourth Dog was crippled. The Calormenes' first attack had failed.
Then a Calormene drum began to sound, signaling for help from nearby Calormene forces. Just then, over a score of Narnian Horses came charging up the hill to join Tirian. Unfortunately, Griffle's dwarfs began to shoot arrows at the Horses, slaughtering them all, and not a single Horse reached the king.
Tirian hid his rage and despair and led one last, desperate attack against the Calormenes. Farsight swooped in on one side and clawed at the faces of the enemies. On the other side, Jill shot a Calormene soldier and a traitorous Narnian Wolf, then stopped shooting due to the onrush of Tirian's party. She and Farsight had effectively disoriented the Calormenes, and Tirian's party cut right through them, killing many. However, although each Narnian sword-stroke felled a Calormene, the Calormenes never got any fewer, as the spear-wielding reinforcements were pouring in from every side. The drum had successfully summoned help.
Jill could hardly even see her friends in the crowd of Calormenes. Tirian called for retreat, but Eustace was grabbed and was dragged to the Stable. Tirian and Jewel tried to rescue him, but were warded off by soldiers, and Eustace was hurled through the doorway. Just then, a hail of arrows came from the Dwarfs, who were now attacking the Calormenes. Rishda Tarkaan led a squad against the Dwarfs, and though the Dwarfs put up a good fight, the Calormenes defeated them, and even seized eleven of them and threw them into the Stable.
Rishda then demanded the Narnians surrender, but when the offer was flatly refused, he ordered the final assault. In the madness of the last battle, Tirian vaguely saw the Boar go down, Jewel fighting furiously, and Jill being dragged to the Stable. Tirian and Rishda had a final duel there before Tirian seized him and hurled them both into the Stable.
What remained of the three sides was destroyed when the world ended; all good creatures went to Aslan's Country while the evil ones vanished into Aslan's terrible shadow to an unknown fate (it could be that Aslan sent them to Tash's domain for eternal torment, as he told Emeth that any creature in the world of Narnia that performs evil deeds is actually serving Tash). The eleven dwarfs, whom Tirian saw sitting in a circle inside the Stable, could not see Aslan's country, only the darkness and the wood of the stable interior.
