Asterius was an elderly male Minotaur that lived during the time of the Narnian Revolution. He lived in hiding in the Shuddering Woods, along with the other Old Narnians, and aided Caspian X and the Pevensies against King Miraz and his Telmarine army.

Like the other Old Narnians he longed to see their old homeland returned to its former glory. He has light brown fur, and marks on one of his horns most likely received from a battle. He is said to be imposingly powerful and solemn, as well as being selfless and courageous. He is known to fight with a standard Minotaur axe, and seems to wear little armor.

He was present at the meeting at the Dancing Lawn, and was one of the Narnians who were willing to blame Caspian for what the Telmarines had taken from them. He soon accepted Caspian as his king. After having met Caspian, Lucy Pevensie having mistaken Asterius's growls as those of Aslan’s started to approach him until Peter Pevensie stopped her. Caspian noticed this and motioned towards Edmund and Lucy but was stopped by Peter. Caspian and Peter dueled until they were stopped by Lucy. This led up to the Pevensies and Trumpkin joining forces with Caspian and the Narnians.

Asterius moved to Aslan's How with the rest of the Narnians. Asterius later took part in the Telmarine Castle Night Raid. In the charge to get into the castle he knocked down a gate and then rammed a Telmarine with his horns. He also shushed a Telmarine while Nikabrik snuck up behind him and knocked him out. Near the end of the battle, the gate started to close, threatening to trap the Narnians. Asterius jumped below and held the gate up, helping most Narnians escape. But he was then shot at by Miraz and many Telmarine soldiers. He fell (unable to hold the gate any longer) and was crushed by the gate.

He was a legend in the film.
